FAA Screening Information Request (SIR) No. 697DCK-19-R-00456 Amendment 0001

1 Replacement of Hot Water Boilers at St. Louis Air Traffic Control Tower (STL ATCT)

Contractor’s Questions & Answers

1) Who taking ownership of the material and units being removed? Will the FAA keep the old units or does the GC need to depose of?

Answer: The contractor shall take ownership and remove all equipment and material replaced or removed for this contract.

2) It looks to me like no bid-bond is required per the 1442 for this project. I understand that a performance and payment bond are required. Can you confirm please that no bid bond is required?

Answer: Yes, no bid bond is required for this project.

3) Drawings call for the contractor to demo (1) of the existing boilers while the 2nd boiler is to remain in operation. We want to confirm that the existing 2 boilers share a common stack and if this is the case, will the contractor need to have a temporary stack for the old boiler while the contractor installs the new type of material for the condensing boiler stacks?

Answer: The existing boilers share a common stack. There are three floors (basement, first and second floor). The boilers are in the basement. Please see the attached four (4) pictures.

The facility has indicated they are able to go without heat provided by the boilers during warm periods (June – September). To reduce impact to the facility and the contractor, it is the FAA’s intention that the work be done during the June – September time frame.
