SECTION 01 35 13 – SPECIAL PROCEEDURES FOR AIRPORT FACILITIES
1.1.1 SUMMARY: This section describes the requirements for working at airport facilities.
1.1.2 The work to be performed is within/at an air traffic control facility, and all FAA operations shall take precedence over any and all work performed by the Contractor. If, at any time, the work of the Contractor is disruptive to the performance of FAA functions, the Contractor shall be directed to cease work and shall reschedule the work with the COR.
1.1.3 FAA OPERATIONS
A. The FAA has established moratorium dates for construction activity at critical Air Traffic Control facilities. The intent is to minimize impact on the ability of FAA to perform its operational activities during peak air travel dates. Moratorium dates are typically scheduled over the Thanksgiving Holiday and the Christmas/New Year Holiday although others may be scheduled depending on local events and will be discussed at the preconstruction conference prior to NTP.
B. Due to the current construction schedule falling outside these seasons, minimal disruption to the work is expected.
C. RESTRICTIONS TO AIRSPACE – The utilization of equipment over 15’ in height at the site is also restricted and will require prior coordination with the FAA COR. Additional information regarding procedures for accomplishing work under this requirement will be discussed at the pre-construction conference.
D. AIR SPACING THE CRANE(S) - The FAA requires a Form 7460 – 1 Notice of proposed Construction or Alteration for airspacing the maximum ht. of his crane.
Form 7460 has been created for this project for a crane ht. no greater than 60’. The Contractor must coordinate with the COR one week prior to cranework.
1.4
A. RESTRICTIONS TO ACCESS - Access to work areas may be restricted from time to time by necessity of airport operations.
