QPO RCAG Pre-bid Questions

Barnegat, NJ

From messages:

- Would the FAA consider the use of DTI’s (Direct Tension Indicators) in replacement for the use of torque wrenches, Pal-nuts or lock washers. DTI’s have been used on other FAA projects, they give a visual to the inspector and user as to proper torque of the bolts?

o Yes, it is acceptable to use DTI’s if acceptable per tower manufacturer recommendations.

- Will it be acceptable to stack the cables going up the structure with snap-in hangers designed for such use?

o No, cables shall be single stack going up waveguide ladder.

- How many feet of LMR-400 is the FAA requesting. Without knowing the distances inside the room and how many cables will be going to each antenna mount it is difficult to estimate a footage for the cable?

o About 600 ft.

- Would ground penetrating radar be an acceptable means of locating underground utilities?

o GPR and Dig safe. Local technicians will also come to verify FAA cable locations. Local technician coordination to be completed by FAA RE.

- At the site visit held in Barnegat, NJ on Tuesday 8/7, I believe Mr. Decker stated that the resurfacing need only be installed inside the fenced-in area up to the gate. However, the Scope of Work states that the resurfacing also includes the access road. Please clarify the extent of resurfacing desired.

o Resurfacing also includes access road up until main roadway.

From site visit:

- Can we remove trees from around site to give crane access?

o If tree removal is deemed necessary, we will talk to land owner and state to take required steps.

- Can we install a larger opening in the fence? Does the asphalt have to cover fence opening?

o You may install a larger fence opening. Asphalt must be in line with the full fence opening inside the fence, but may go back to normal width at access road.

- Does Lead paint need to be abated?

o If lead paint is present, it must be abated to code.

- Where do we pick up the electric for ob lights?

o Ob Light no longer required on tower.

- Do you require PVC up the tower?

o No PVC necessary to run up tower.
