• IMU settings play an important role for achieving good results

• Highway Performance

• Depending on field of view for a TPP, capturing the entire 4.0M width of section can be difficult with any wander from the centerline

Data Submittals

• Data Submittal

‒ Provide per AASHTO Tests

‒ PP-106

‒ PP-107

‒ PP-108

‒ PP-109

‒ Requires Initial “raw data” ‒ Data provided by the laser system prior to filter or processing

‒ Sample submittal format by test will be provided on Federal Lands procurement website

Standard 2D/3D Data Format

2D/3D Pavement Surface Image Standard Data Format ‒ AASHTO MP 47, File Format of Two-Dimensional and Three- Dimensional (2D/3D) Pavement Image Data

Standard Data Format Objectives

• Supporting the structure of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) standards that separate data collection from analysis (similar to the one for longitudinal profilers).

• Analyzing 2D/3D digital images from different sources.

• Effectively exchanging data across users, software tools, and platforms.

• Reprocessing data when new analysis algorithms are developed.

• In accordance with the modified AASHTO MP

47, File Format of Two-Dimensional and Three-Dimensional (2D/3D) Pavement Image Data

• .PSI file format

• Report: Evaluation of Proposed Standard Data Format and Compression Algorithms for 2D/3D Pavement Surface Image:

https://www.fhwa.dot.gov/pavement/pub_detai ls.cfm?id=1108 https://www.fhwa.dot.gov/pavement/pub_details.cfm?id=1108

4.2.1 File Structure

• The file comprises six sequential sections:

4.3.2 File Signature

• The first three-byte string “psi” should be used as the File Signature and as the filename extension for the file

4.4 File Header

• The file header describes the properties of the 2D/3D data stored in each file. Each property is denoted by a variable of defined data type and byte length.

4.4 File Header

• Sample File Header

Standard Data Format - Required Fields

• Version

• Heading

• GPS longitude

• GPS latitude

• 2D / 3D pixel storage order

• 2D / 3D codec

• 2D / 3D longitudinal resolution

• 2D / 3D transverse resolution

• 2D / 3D length

• 2D / 3D data bit depth

• 2D / 3D data size

• 3D registration

• Baseline range value
