Description:
The work will consist of applying a preventive maintenance action to the roadway surface that includes minor spot repairs (patching), crack sealing and the application of a surface seal or non-structural overlay.
Preventive maintenance is a pavement preservation tool to provide cost effective treatment to the surface of a structurally sound pavement to preserve the system and retard future deterioration. Since preventive maintenance treatments are inexpensive in comparison to resurfacing or reconstruction projects, a pavement preservation program is a cost-effective means of meeting pavement performance goals. Pavement preservation is an important tool in practicing sound asset management."

Assesment of Effect Assesment of Effect: No Adverse Effect
Documentation Method Streamlined Review (PA)
Streamlined Review Streamlined Review Activity: 3. Repair/Resurfacing/Removal of Existing, Roads, Trails and Parking
Areas Explanation: The project design and scope is limited to those existing road surfaces within the park and no further ground disturbance will occur as a result of the proposed project. Spot repairs will occur as a part of routine, cyclic maintenance of the road surfaces and no historic properties, nor their setting, should be affected by these actions. Roads do travel through both defined and currently undefined cultural landscapes within the park, but these actions will not alter the location, design, or materials of these roads. Based on these proposed activities, we recommend that the project commence with a finding of no adverse effect [36 CFR 800.5(d) (1)].
