6933A217Q00028-00001 JRRF – Purchase and Delivery of Tug (Push) Boat
QUESTIONS RESPONSES
The specifications call for “DRAFT” at 5’6” – 6’. Is the intent to have the molded depth of hull to be deeper [7-8ft] to allow for an acceptable freeboard or is this to be considered the molded depth?
The draft cited in the specification is typical of this type of vessel. A draft of 7’ – 8’ is acceptable to accommodate individual designs.
The 60 day delivery time may be an issue due to availability of major equipment [MDE’s generator]. How will this be handled?
The 60-day “estimated” delivery date is just that, an estimate. In accordance with Quotation Submission Instructions (page 30) of the RFQ, Potential Offerors are required to submit their estimated delivery date for the boat.
If the vessel is to comply with Subchapter M standards, will the vessel, at anytime, be pushing an oil or fuel barge?
It is not planned at this point.
Can ½” plate be installed on the headlog in lieu of the 7/16” plate as listed?
Yes
Can plate framing be used instead of angles so long as the minimum strength requirements per Subchapter M are met?
Yes
Can the frame spacing as specified be altered so that all frames spaces on bottom, sides and deck are the same?
Yes, if the 18” spacing is used.
The Twin Disc gear model MG 5061 is not listed by the manufacturer as having a 3.82:1 ratio. An MG 5091 gear does have that ratio.
Will the MG 5091 be suitable to install?
The specifications allow “similar suitable transmissions” and the MG 5091 is acceptable.
The two power train engines are specified as being U.S. manufactured, will the one generator be required to be U.S. manufactured as well?
Yes, unless the bidder can demonstrate the lack of a suitable source of American made products.

Deck Hardware section; RUBRAILS, states 6” x 8.2 channel welded down the sides 4” below deck line
Then Additional Construction Information states; The boat shall have rubber bumper pads fitted around perimeter of hull …
1. How does the CHANNEL rubrails relate to the Rubber Bumpers? Welded on top of the channel or above or below the channel?
2. Rubber bumpers; are they to be solid push pad type or laminated cut tire type?
1. It was envisioned that the (rubber bumpers) rub rails would lie inside the channel and is meant to provide the dimensions expected.
2. The bumpers may be either solid or cut as described, as long as, the design is suitable for this type of service.
