About this file
This document outlines a Quality Assurance Surveillance Plan (QASP) for cancer registry abstraction services required by the Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 21. The QASP defines seven key tasks for the cancer registry and establishes performance standards and acceptance levels for monitoring monthly reports, case abstracting timelines, computer system proficiency, reporting requirements, credential maintenance, database usability, and patient privacy/security compliance. Methods for periodic and random surveillance include monthly report reviews and random case inspections to evaluate adherence to abstracting deadlines, follow-up rates, incomplete records status, and other performance indicators. Non-compliance may result in deductions or other corrective actions.
