About this file
This document is a comprehensive project specification for the replacement of the nurse call system at the H.H. McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia. The project (VA Project No. 652-21-102) involves selective demolition, electrical work, and installation of a new communications and signal system across multiple building floors, with specific focus on replacing existing nurse call infrastructure. The specifications detail requirements for Class II asbestos abatement, electrical installations, communications structured cabling, and nurse call system implementation, with two alternate bid options that progressively reduce the project's scope by excluding certain floor areas.
The technical specifications cover extensive requirements including safety protocols, quality control, respiratory protection, personnel decontamination facilities, negative air pressure systems, and detailed procedures for asbestos removal and disposal. The project is scheduled for completion by June 12, 2025, and involves precise technical standards for electrical systems, communications wiring, and signal systems. The document provides comprehensive guidance for contractors, including submission requirements, construction methods, testing procedures, and compliance with federal regulations such as OSHA, EPA, and VA standards. The total project scope encompasses work in various medical facility areas including Dermatology, Optometry, Nuclear Medicine, Physical Therapy, Pain and Neurology, and Specialty Care departments.
