About this file
This is a proposed sole source purchase form submitted by the University of New Mexico (UNM) to procure ScrubEx secure scrub dispensing machines from Meridian Leasing Corporation. The request, submitted on July 24, 2025, by Brad Ross from the Materials Management Department, seeks to lease advanced machines that provide authorized healthcare staff with clean scrubs in appropriate sizes through secure, badge-accessed dispensing systems. The procurement covers a 5-year term with renewals consistent with the New Mexico Procurement Code, and the justification is based on compatibility requirements with existing systems already deployed within UNM's healthcare organization, including integrated software for employee badge access for surgeons, OR technicians, and OR nurses.
The total contract value is $2.4 million over the 5-year period, with the renewal and expansion intended to support the new tower facility. The sole source justification emphasizes that continuing with the existing Meridian system maintains standard of care operations, preserves compatibility with current software infrastructure, and ensures real-time scrub usage tracking with automated inventory alerts while maintaining sterility compliance for healthcare providers. The form indicates extensive web searches were conducted for due diligence, though no other vendors were specifically contacted or evaluated, and the document was electronically signed and approved by Jeffrey Gilmore on July 24, 2025.
