About this file
This document outlines fire prevention precautions for a federal timber sale contract on the Shawnee National Forest. The contractor must maintain spark arrestors on all internal combustion equipment and carry a serviceable shovel and five-pound fire extinguisher with each piece of motorized equipment. Chainsaw operators must have a shovel and one-pound extinguisher readily available. The contractor will furnish additional firefighting tools as specified in a fire prevention and control plan, including the required number and location of rakes, shovels, and axes. The Forest Service reserves the right to rescind any waived precautions and must approve the contractor's fire prevention plan before operations begin. This relates to the federal contract opportunity for oak wilt stewardship and integrated resource stewardship on the Shawnee National Forest issued by the US Department of Agriculture Forest Service.
