About this file
This is Addendum #1 to an Invitation to Bid (ITB) issued by the City of Charlotte, Department of General Services, on behalf of the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) Bus Operations Division for brake and suspension parts. The ITB #269-2026-2041 seeks to establish a reliable supplier for the purchase and delivery of brake and suspension parts and associated services for transit buses. The contract is requested for a five-year term. The addendum, dated March 31, 2026, clarifies the parts specification process and addresses supplier questions regarding component identification and sourcing options.
The primary clarification provided in Addendum #1 addresses the parts list, which contains Gillig OEM part numbers with associated component descriptions. The City prefers Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts but remains open to alternative products, provided they meet specifications. The City does not possess "original" part numbers and expects Vehicle Maintenance Group to cross-reference Gillig numbers to identify actual manufacturers and equivalent products for quotation purposes. Prospective bidders are responsible for monitoring the City's Contract Opportunities website at http://charlottenc.gov/DoingBusiness/pages/ContractOpportunities.aspx and www.charlottenc.bonfirehub.com for any additional addenda or clarifications prior to bid submission.

Addendum # 1
CATS Bus Brakes and Suspension Parts
ITB# 269-2026-2041
To: All Prospective Proposers
Date: 3/31/2026
Subject: Addendum 1 – ITB #269-2026-2041
Q1: I’ve reviewed the list of parts and it only provides the gillig or other OE part number in many cases. Do you have the real brand of the products so they can be quoted fairly? I see that equals need to be approved ahead of time however it doesnt identify exactly what the real brand of the item is that you require. for example, you provided Gillig 5366591000 YOKE, AXLE, MERITOR HALF ROUND which is a Meritor part but only a Gillig number.
A1: From the Project Manager: We would prefer OEM parts; however, we are open to alternatives. We do not have “original” parts numbers. Vehicle Maintenance Group would have to cross reference those parts themselves.
In the event additional changes or clarifications to this ITB are warranted, all Companies are responsible for monitoring the City’s Contract Opportunities site or www.charlottenc.bonfirehub.com or for additional addenda.
We appreciate your interest in doing business with the City and look forward to receiving a BID from your company.
Sincerely, Lorena Nazario Procurement Officer http://charlottenc.gov/DoingBusiness/pages/ContractOpportunities.aspx http://www.charlottenc.bonfirehub.com/
