About this file
This document is a grant application from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) for Career Exploration Internships, soliciting applications from public educational institutions in Texas, including junior colleges, technical institutes, state colleges, general academic teaching institutions, and independent school districts or charter schools. The grant aims to provide $750,000 in Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funds to support internship programs that prepare students for workforce entry, offer real-world experience across multiple industries, and help students better understand their academic paths. Eligible applicants can request between $50,000 and $150,000, with the grant period lasting fifteen months.
The funding can be used for instructor fees, administrative expenses, industry-aligned certifications, and work-related costs such as personal protective equipment, uniforms, and transportation. The program requires hosting career fairs for 9th and 10th-grade students, implementing rotational internships, arranging industry visits, and providing soft skills training. Grantees must submit quarterly performance reports, monthly financial reports, and a final report detailing outcomes such as total interns employed, average wages earned, and program evaluation results. The application includes comprehensive reporting requirements and necessitates that applicants provide detailed plans for internship recruitment, industry partnerships, and program implementation.
