It also provides responses to questions regarding the project, including clarification that the bore under the railroad will not require a 24-hour operation, the correct length of the bore being 170 LF, and the use of cold patch for temporary paving purposes. The addendum further clarifies that no specific manufacturer has been specified for the Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and that a complete spare pump, including the motor, couplings, and base plate, is required. Additionally, it allows for the use of aluminum bronze impellers instead of the specified silicone bronze.

2. The bore is showing 2 different lengths, what is correct the 132 lf or the 170 lf?
Response: The correct length is 170 LF. The callouts on Sheets C-101 and Sheet C-201 should read 170 LF. New sheets will not be issued for this change.
3. Will there be a copy of what was stated at the pre-bid meeting? As the virtual meeting was not activated?
Response: A summary of the minutes was posted on January 12, 2024.
4. I wanted to inquire whether or not equivalent alternated were being accepted for the supply of the horizontal split case pumps specified?
Response: Proposed alternates will be considered for acceptance only when submitted with the proper documentation and procedures as called for in the Contract Documents. Contractors are responsible for ensuring that the performance of any proposed alternate meets the requirements of the Contract Documents. Contractors submit proposed alternates at their own risk and will not be entitled to pricing or schedule adjustments should Contractor’s proposed alternate be deemed unacceptable.
5. Will the trench need to be paved with hot mix asphalt daily using Base Course and Intermediate Curse as described on the plans?
Response: The Contractor is allowed to only have specific amount of trench opened at a time. The contractor is responsible for ensuring that trench(es) are safe at the end of the work day. There is no requirement for paving at the end of each day, and Contractors are reminded that means and methods are the responsibility of the Contractor. Prior to the resumption of traffic on a trench in a paved area, the trench will need to be brought to the surface in accordance with the Contract Documents.

8. Would we be able to cold patch any length of the trench to reduce the amount of days were paving occurs? Tolerances for paving can vary, and therefore reduce the number of workable days due solely to asphalt availability and weather conditions.
Response: The Contractor will need to submit a paving plan for approval once he has determined how he will complete the work. Use of cold patch, if desired, will be evaluated in conjunction with the paving plan.
9. We could not locate any specs for the VFD’s. The pump spec requires the pump supplier to furnish the VFD’s which is no issue. We work with ABB for VFDs and would provide them with our pumps if acceptable. If another supplier is preferred, could we please get their information?
Response: No specific manufacturer has been specified for VFDs. The Contractor is responsible for providing VFDs that are compatible with the pumps that are submitted and approved. The Contractor is responsible for ensuring that the cabinets/containers for the VFDs will fit within the allotted space in the pump station.
10. The specs are requiring a spare pump. Should we provide a complete pump or just the pump assembly without motor, couplings and base plate.
Response: A complete pump shall be provided.
11. For spars is one (1) set of spare parts or two (2) sets – (1) for each pump?
Response: Two sets, one for each pump, are required.
12. Section 11197, Para. 2.1.A & 2.3.F & 2.3.N: Impeller is specified to be silicone bronze...but application is for chlorinated potable water. We usually recommend aluminum bronze (Aluminum Bronze ASTM B148 UNS C95400 (B22) for chlorinated water to avoid pitting of the impeller.
Response: Aluminum bronze impellers, per the referenced ASTM specification, will be allowed.
13. Specification 16000 1.8 B. defines area classifications. Please advise if the area inside of the water booster pump station is considered Corrosive Process / Wet or Non-Corrosive Process and Mechanical / Dry.
IFB #54317 SE Water Infrastructure Improvements-16” Water Main and Booster Pumping Station 6
14. Section 11197 Para. 2.1.E indicates 60 HP motor...but E-601 indicates 50 HP motors. The pump requires a 50 HP motor for non-overloading operation. Do we supply with 50 or 60 HP motors and VFDs?
Response: If the pump specified in the Contract Documents is submitted, 50 HP motors and VFDs will be required.
