About this file
This document is a Heat Protection Safety Requirement specification for a construction or outdoor work project. The document outlines comprehensive safety guidelines for workers exposed to extreme weather conditions, with a specific focus on heat-related safety measures. The requirements mandate that the project's Safety Plan must include provisions for protecting workers from heat-related and cold-related illnesses during their work, with special attention to conditions when temperatures reach or exceed 90 degrees (either in actual temperature or heat index).
The specification requires the Prime Contractor to provide appropriate accommodations during extended periods of adverse weather, which includes developing a project-specific Heat Awareness Plan when temperatures are high. This plan must address worker acclimatization, provide access to water, rest periods, and shaded areas. Vendors indicate their agreement to these requirements by signing the Bid Acknowledgement at the time of submission, thereby committing to implement these safety protocols to protect workers from potential heat-related health risks during the project's execution.
