About this file

This is a Bid Bond Form for Marion County, Florida, establishing the bonding requirements for competitive bidding on the Marion Oaks #4 and Summerglen Water Treatment Plants Potable Wells Construction project. The form serves as a standard bid bond template where contractors submit either a surety bond or cashier's check to accompany their bid submissions. The document outlines the principal contractor, surety company, and obligee (Marion County Board of County Commissioners, located at 2631 SE 3rd Street, Ocala, FL 34471) entering into a binding agreement whereby the contractor commits to enter into a contract with the County upon bid acceptance and provide required performance bonds if selected. The bond penalty amount corresponds to the bid amount and remains in effect until contract execution. Cashier's checks submitted in lieu of bid bonds are retained by Procurement Services until contract award and approval, after which firms must arrange pickup or coordinate courier delivery; firms requesting return via USPS mail must submit written request and acknowledge the County bears no liability for lost or misdirected mail.

The bid bond form is a fillable document requiring contractors to complete specified fields including principal company name and address, surety company name and address, written dollar amount of the bond, bid number and project title, and signature blocks for the principal, surety, and witnesses with dates. The form establishes that if the principal fails to execute the required contract and performance bond upon bid acceptance, the County may recover the difference between the submitted bid amount and any higher amount paid to another contractor to perform the work, not to exceed the bond penalty. This standard bonding mechanism protects the County's interests during the competitive bidding process and ensures contractor commitment to project execution upon award.
