Service Descriptions

Regular Collections:

These are regular payments that are made on an account including payment in full, settlements, monthly payers, and program payers*. In addition, this category encompasses payments made on a consumer’s account as a result of an Administrative Wage Garnishment.

Consolidation:

Consolidation Loans combine several student loans into one bigger loan from a single lender, which is then used to pay off the balances on the other loans. It is very similar to refinancing a mortgage. After a consumer makes a specific number of qualifying payments on their account (typically 3), accounts are purchased by another lender.

Rehabilitation:

The Loan Rehabilitation program is offered to qualifying student loan borrowers in default. After a consumer makes a specific amount of qualifying payments on their account (typically 9), accounts are purchased by another lender.

*To further clarify the differences in the above three categories, if a consumer is placed in either a Consolidation or Rehabilitation program, the 3 or 9 monthly payments that they are required to make on their account are paid under the Regular Collections fee rate, while the balance at funding is paid at the corresponding rate for that fee category.

Litigations and Administrative Resolutions:

These are administrative fees paid for submission of accounts that are submitted and approved for such items as deaths, disabilities, bankruptcies, and programmatic cancellations.
