Question 1: Sheet A505 detail 11 calls for 4' wide door. Door schedule sheet A601 Dr2 calls for pair of 2'6" please clarify.
Answer: The rows were switched. The door for the 1 st floor station is 4’ wide; and the doors for the 2 nd floor station are the pair of 2’6” doors.
Question 2: Specification 084113-3 call for narrow stile door, a door of such width would be very flimsy,Is this correct?
Answer: The spec is correct.
Question 3: Can a steel column be added to hinge side of door?
Answer: Yes.
Question 4: Is there detail for ballistic protection at existing curtainwall and vestibule.
Answer: Per Sheet A501, detail 7 states Level II ballistic retrofit glazing system basis of design – Defenselite – Bulletshield. System to be design-build with all components being completely prefrabicated and ready for installation. Vendor to complete installation.
Question 5: Is there a detail for how posts are anchored to floor and ceiling?
Answer:
a. S1.01 – Plan Keynote 4 – HSS post base connection per 4/S502.
b. S1.03 – Plan Keynote 2 – Column base connection per 7/S502, column top connection per 8/S502.
Question 6: At the site walk, there was mention of the GSA's 3rd party security company that would pull the communication cables/wires. Are the electricians for this project suppose to run conduit and pull string for these comm lines?
Question 7: At the site walk, we were told to salvage the existing Marshal's security desk and move it to the front door. Is this correct?
Question 8: Is the contractor responsible for furnishing the CCTV equipment, telephone, intercom, duress switch, door release switch for lockers, and other security devices?
Answer: No. All hardware shall be provided by a separate contractor.
Question 9: The scope of work lists the x-ray and metal detector as the government supplied. Is the contractor responsible for installing this equipment?
Answer: No.
3 | P a g e
Question 10: What other government-furnished equipment and materials are the contractor relocating/installing?
Answer: Just the Marshal’s existing security desk that will be relocated to the 7 th
Ave main federal building entrance.
Question 11: Is the contractor responsible for the disposal of the old x-ray screening machine?
Question 12: The finish schedule on page A6.01 does not mention a carpet style. What carpet style/pattern does GSA want?
Answer:
Shaw Contract Collection: Steppin Out, or Contracting Officer Approved equal
Style: Welcome Tile 5t031
Type: carpet tile
Tufted weight: 49.0 Oz/yd2
Question 13: Is there a specification or product information on the existing 1st-floor brick flooring? Brick prices can vary greatly depending on their style.
Answer: No product information available.
Question 14: On the 2nd-floor, we will have to remove the carpet to install structural support posts. Is the contractor responsible for reinstalling the carpet?
Answer: Yes, the contractor is responsible for reinstalling the carpet. Keep in mind the carpet will be replaced later in FY21.
Some extra carpet tiles are available in GSA storage if needed.
Question 15: Is there a specification or product information on the existing 2nd-floor carpet flooring?
Answer: Some extra carpet tiles are available in GSA storage. No product info available.
Question 16: On the 2nd-floor ceiling above the acoustic tiles, there is ductwork along the center of the hallway where we are supposed to install the support posts. How is this going to work? Is there some way to avoid bolting the top of the structural support posts to the ceiling?
Answer: The record drawing Cad indicates the duct-run being held tighter to the wall vs.
closer to the center of the corridor. Therefore the a/e offset the wall from the center of the corridor and had the steel columns miss the central ceiling runner as well as the duct above.
Question 17: Does the engineer have another option for securing the structural support posts to avoid bolting them onto the ceiling?
Answer: The alternative would be to provide stud-tracks on the walls paralleling the corridor for built-up header attachment. The built-up headers would span the corridor and support the column-head at the locations currently shown. The caveat here would be whether the bottom of the ducts are too low and wouldn’t allow a sufficiently-sized header to fit between the top of the suspended ceiling system and the bottom of the ducts.

Question 20: Will the project be doing normal business hours or at night?
Answer: All work can take place during normal business hours, except work that is noisy, e.g., core drilling. Core drilling shall take place after normal business hours with advance notice.
Question 21: Are all installed materials for this project under requirements to be American made?
Answer: Yes. See Solicitation FAR 52.225-10 Notice of Buy American Requirements –
Construction Materials.
Question 22: Per the walk through, the proposed location for new panel board 21 CSO seems to be problematic in that the existing wall is cementitious and not a substance that can be cut and patched. We recommend adding a new wall to this location or relocating the panel board.
Answer: GSA agrees with recommendation.
Question 23: For the core hole in the wall behind the historic lighting, it appears there is an existing opening within about 2’ of the proposed location. Would it be possible to simply move the new penetration to the existing opening assuming it is in fact there or are there other factors that we cant see?
