Please clarify the Insulated Glass Units ( IGU )
Reference GSA PB-100; 1" insulated double paned. The preferred systems include:
thermally tempered heat strengthened or annealed glass with a blast film installed on the interior surface and attached to the frame; laminated thermally tempered, laminated heat strengthened, or laminated annealed glass.
AM03
6 8/6/2019
The IGUs are not noted for make - up. Please myriad the IGU make-up. As well it appears there are several systems of framing, the detail that was posted helps but only for the lower floors
Window systems consist of a ribbon type thermal broken aluminum frame with preformed "H" and "T" rubber gaskets that retain the glazing in the frames and areas of a curtain wall system comprised of a thermally broken anodized aluminum frame. Glazing at the ribbon windows consists of a 1 inch insulated glazing unit with a tinted exterior pane. All window system vision glazing units have a blast security film applied on the interior.

Referenced those drawings for more information. Original set of the referenced drawings will provide elevation / wall sections sheets. These sheets are needed due to we don’t have enough information currently.
The entire Architectural section of the original drawings are what is necessary for a complete look as to we are to what the actual scope is.
Attachment - AFB Window Replacement - Elevation Asbuilts 1979 is included with solicitation amendment AM03. AM03
8 8/7/2019 Is there a certification required for the installer of the BR filming ?
Security film manufacturers require the installer to be certified for the installation of their product. AM03
9 8/7/2019 Is there a specific manufacture of the film? Products are not brand name specified in the SOWs. AM03
10 8/8/2019 Is the customer willing to accept a stronger ballistic rated glass than UL 752 Level IV, providing that the glass meets all dimensions and other specifications in the Statement of Work?
Reference SOW Chambers Windows Replace, Section 6: Project Description, Item 1 which provides the minimum standard and does not state a maximum standard. AM03
11 8/8/2019 The three (3) windows in the Law Clerk’s office are to be removed only and not replaced?
Reference SOW Chambers Windows Replace, Section 6: Project Description, Item 2. which states "Remove and dispose of the three (3) de-laminating windows in the Law Clerk's office."
AM03
12 8/8/2019 Do you have the dimensions of the windows in the Judge's Chambers and Law Clerk's office? Contractor shall verify dimensions per the scope of work. Windows in Judge's Chambers are approximately 58" x 58". AM03
13 8/8/2019 It is understood that the frame must be the same ballistic rating as the glass, but is there a specific desired material for the frame?
See response to Question 2 - The frames in the Clerk's office, as you enter the office, shall remain in place. The frames in the Judge's chambers shall be reused. AM03

16 8/13/2019
What is the time line of when the glass is to be installed? And the length of time we have to complete the projects? Start and finish dates? The Period of Performance is amended from 90 days after Notice to Proceed to read 180 days after NTP. Reference Section 7: Submittals, Contractor shall provide a schedule after award and Project Manager will work with the Courts to confirm schedule.
AM03
17 8/13/2019 Confirm the Judge’s Chambers, is it just glass removal of the glass in clerk’s office and removal and replace the glass in the Judges? Or are the frames also to be removed and replaced?
See response to Question 2 and 13. The frames in the Clerk's office, as you enter the office, shall remain in place. The frames in the Judge's chambers shall be reused. AM03
18 8/13/2019 The reference to “sealed” for the ballistic glass in Judge’s Chambers to mean the glass to frame and not open like existing is now? Would this not trap moist air against the colder exterior glass? And result in condensation on outer glass, with no way to clean off.
The intent of that reference is not to trap moist air against the exterior glass. The contractor is responsible to follow manufacturer's instructions for installation. AM03
19 8/13/2019
Please Confirm that any wall end panels that cover the glass or the aluminum frame glass stops that must be removed for glass replacement must be replaced by the glazing contractor who removed it. Also because we did not do a full walk thru of floors 3,4, & 5 we do not know the number of these end wall panels that are required to be done. Do some have Wall paper and are not painted? This could be a large added expense.
Confirming: the demising walls that abut to the window mullions, have spacers. These spacers would be at every point that a demising wall meets the window mullion. These spacers may be required to be removed, replaced, recaulked and repainted. None of the windows within this scope of work have wallpaper, but soundsoak paneling, which can be removed and reapplied.
AM03
20 8/13/2019 Just too many issues, questions, etc. A second site visit is scheduled. See Amendment AMD02 for details. AM03
21 8/23/2019 Will we be able to store the glass in the parking garage with easy access to the freight elevator?
There is no available storage. Contractor is responsible to for management and storage of window glass and other materials required to complete the work. AM04
22 8/23/2019 Can the freight elevator be locked down for specific use by glaziers? No, the freight elevators must remain available to other users. AM04
23 8/23/2019 If I read the SOW correctly it states work to be done outside of regular business hours, although it seems like I heard work to be done 7a – 5p.
1. The SOW for the AFB Window Replacement – Earthquake Damage will be performed during normal business hours (7:00am to 5:00pm).
2. The SOW, for the AFB Chambers Window Replace, requires outside normal business hours, but will require an escort, which will be supplied by the courts.
AM04
24 9/3/2019
Clarify the following regarding the Chamber window frames: In the SOW it states the following:
"e. The window frame around the ballistic-window shall be rated the same as the ballistic-resistant window itself. The rating from the frame manufacturer must be certified."
The above statement alludes to the contractor manufacturing the windows will manufacture a new frame as well which contradicts the statement in the Q & A file which states:
"The frames in the Clerk's office, as you enter the office, shall remain in place. The frames in the Judge's chambers shall be reused."
If the frames in the Judge's chambers shall be reused; why and how would the contractor certify the rating of an existing frame? Is this a misprint and the requirement is to remove and replace the four chamber windows and frames?
Attachment titled "AFB Chambers Window Replace_SOW_rev1", the following from section 6. 1. e is hereby deleted from the SOW, "e. The window frame around the ballistic-window shall be rated the same as the ballistic-resistant window itself. The rating from the frame manufacturer must be certified." No need to certify, that requirement is removed from the SOW. Existing frames to remain in place.
AM05
25 9/3/2019 What are the approximate measurements of the three clerk windows which require removal only? This question was asked previously but not answered. Approximately 58" x 58". Vendor needs to verify actual measurement. AM05
No further questions will be addressed.
