5 SPECIFICATIONS
5.1 Overview
The City of Madison is soliciting bids for Horizontal Elliptical Reinforced Concrete Pipe (HERCP), Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP), and three (3) precast concrete sewer access structures.
The City of Madison Engineering Division plans to replace existing corrugated metal pipe with 24”x 38” HERCP storm sewer pipe in order to provide continued storm sewer service. The existing corrugated metal pipe (CMP) is corroding and collapsing. New precast structures are required with the upgrade of the HERCP pipe size.
Existing culverts between stormwater basins constructed with CMP will be replaced with reinforced concrete pipe (RCP). The existing metal pipes are in a failing condition, and, due to the practice of prescribed burns, RCP is the better replacement when considering all pipe options.
Quantities listed in this Request for Quotation are a plan based quantity. Any increase or decrease in quantity due to unforeseen or alterations of plans shall not facilitate a change in unit price quoted. If actual quantity is increased, the pipe shall be paid for at unit price quoted.
5.2 Specifications
The RCP and HERCP pipe shall conform to the City of Madison Standard Specification for Public Works Construction (2018 Edition). Joints for all pipe shall be designed for use of flexible rubber gaskets, which shall be provided by bidder and included in bid price. Flexible rubber gaskets shall conform to the requirements of Section 504.2 of the City of Madison Standard Specification for Public Works Construction (2018 Edition). The pipe shall be inspected by City of Madison Inspector after delivery and if rejected, the pipe shall be returned and new pipe delivered at no additional cost to the City of Madison.
Precast sewer access structures shall conform to the City of Madison Standard Specification for Public Works Construction (2018 Edition) Section 507.3(b)2.
A plan set showing the proposed construction location is included and shall be used as reference only.
Please see Attachment A.
5.3 Pricing
Prices quoted must include shipping charges, FOB Madison. All freight charges, delivery fees, and packaging charges must be included in the above prices.
