About this file
This is a 100% design document and lighting plan prepared by the South Dakota Department of the Military's Construction and Facilities Management Office for an LED lighting installation project at the Chamberlain facility located at 400 E Good Street in Butte County, South Dakota. The project involves removing and replacing existing lighting fixtures with new LED fixtures across multiple areas including Rooms 110, 114, and exterior locations, as well as the cold storage building. The scope of work includes installation of 11 shop lights (Lithonia CPHB-24000LM-HEF-GCL-MD-MVOLT-GZ10-40K-80CRI-DWH-BAA), 10 one-by-four wall mount shop lights (Lithonia EMS L96 12000 IMAFD WD MVOLT GZ10 40K 80CRI BAA), 9 wall-mounted exterior lights (Lithonia DSXW2 LED models with varying specifications), 3 exit signs (Lithonia LE-S-1-R-EL N-BAA), and 3 emergency lights (Lithonia ELM6L-BAA), along with associated occupancy sensors and switching system modifications. The project includes demolition and recycling of existing fixtures, conduit installation and rework, and wall paint touch-ups. Bid submissions are due between March 13 and March 27, 2025, with an optional pre-bid conference scheduled for March 18, 2025, at 1:00 PM CT at the project site. The project must be completed within 90 calendar days from the notice to proceed.
Bid security requirements are 5% for bids under $100,000 or 10% for bids exceeding $100,000, to be submitted as certified check, cashier's check, or bid bond. All products must comply with the Build America Buy America (BAAB) Act, and the contractor is responsible for verifying compliance. The design document specifies that LED components must be recycled as e-waste per Defense Logistics Agency requirements, and all demolished components must be recycled in accordance with applicable local and higher standards. The contractor assumes sole responsibility for job site conditions, safety, and must defend and indemnify the design professional from liability except for the design engineer's sole negligence. All lighting work must be completed quickly, preferably within the same day per room, to minimize impact on building occupants. Questions regarding the project should be directed to Kyle Roe at (605) 737-6605 or kyle.roe@state.sd.us.
