3,000- 3,500 GALLON TANDEM AXLE FLUSHER - DEICER TRUCK BID

Manufacturer’s Standard Specifications

Purpose and Function:

The following specifications are for two (2) tandem axle 3,000 to 3,500 gallon capacity street flushing - deicer trucks. These units will enable the Street Division personnel to perform dust control, street cleaning, deicing, and flushing operations.

These trucks will be used primarily in the street cleaning operations and will provide flushing services to a crew of street sweepers. The unit will load with 3,000 - 3,500 gallons of water from Missoula fire hydrants. It will then be used to flush debris ahead of the sweeping crews with a high volume of water under pressure. A rear spray bar on the unit will enable the operators to spray water on road and construction surfaces for dust control. In the winter months, these units will be used as deicer trucks to transport and spray liquid deicer products.

The basic description of these units is as follows: a truck mounted 3,000 -3,500 gallon flusher tank mounted on a tandem axle truck. All of the flusher components will be powered off of the chassis front engine. The flusher trucks will have a minimum of two front spray shoes mounted one on each side just behind the cab or midway. These units will have one sprinkler shoe in each rear corner and a rear spray bar. All of the flushing components must function off of a pressure compensating pump system that is driven hydraulically off of either a front engine hydraulic pump or a PTO driven hydraulic pump. Units shall have a rear deicer bar and/or nozzles to apply liquid deicer.

It is mandatory that this system put out enough water at a high enough pressure to operate both front and both side shoes (all four at the same time) at low speeds and low engine rpm's while still being capable of flushing mud, dirt, and debris off the City streets. These units must provide adequate flushing and deicing capabilities at speeds from 0 to 45 mph.

These units will be used for cleaning streets, dust control, and dispensing deicer or anti-icer products. Ambient temperature and lane mile instrumentation will not be needed. These units must be capable of operating in varying terrain and rural locations including steep streets and winding facility access roads. The unit as supplied must be a complete "Turn
