About this file

This is a technical specification document issued by the State of Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) Bureau of Business Services for the procurement of trailer-mounted, diesel-powered rotary screw air compressors. The specification covers equipment intended for use by IDOT Division of Highways Operations, with this particular document addressing District 2 requirements featuring a skid-mounted configuration as an alternative to the standard trailer chassis. The equipment must meet a minimum capacity of 375 cubic feet per minute (CFM) at 150 PSI operating pressure and be capable of operating a minimum of two pneumatic hammers rated at 90 pounds simultaneously, along with intermittent use of smaller pneumatic tools. The specification details comprehensive equipment requirements including rotary screw compressor design with direct drive air-end, a minimum 120-horsepower fuel-injected liquid-cooled diesel engine, dual hose reel assemblies with 50 feet of hose each, and integrated tool lubricators. All units must include operator monitoring systems with hour meters, pressure gauges, fuel gauges, and temperature warning systems, along with complete operator controls and safety shutdown devices.

Bidders must be established manufacturers or authorized dealers who can guarantee service availability and provide documentation of qualified service facilities capable of supporting the equipment post-purchase. The manufacturer's standard one-year warranty commencing from the Illinois Department of Transportation in-service date must cover all defective parts and workmanship, with warranty service performed at no cost to the State. Successful vendors are responsible for complete delivery of fully operational equipment within quoted timeframes, with any noted defects addressed within 30 days of in-service. The specification requires vendors to provide all operators' manuals, parts lists, warranty information, and service or shop manuals upon delivery, along with factory or dealer personnel instruction covering operation, routine service, and maintenance for all assigned personnel. Bidders must submit complete specification compliance documentation, descriptive literature, and pictures or sketches with their responses, with the State reserving the right to request equipment demonstrations prior to delivery.
