The DID, numbered DI-NDTI-81307A and approved on 21 November 2006, is administered by the Office of Primary Responsibility NS/I522 and supersedes the previous version DI-NDTI-81307. It applies to Naval contracts and has no DTIC or GIDEP applicability.

The test plan must be prepared in the contractor's format and shall include: (a) the purpose of the test; (b) applicable documents; (c) description of units to be tested; (d) detailed test descriptions comprising step-by-step operator procedures for each test, defined readings and settings, test equipment descriptions with commercial identification, and drawings or schematics of noncommercial fixtures and testers; and (e) inspection criteria defining minimum performance requirements for Government acceptance, including worst case prime power input, worst case signal level and timing inputs, and signal level and timing outputs. This DID provides the contractual framework for contractors to establish test procedures and acceptance standards for first article qualification activities.
