PART 1 – SCOPE OF WORK
I. INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUND
Lake Washington is the primary drinking water supply source for the City of Melbourne. The lake is impounded at its north end by a sheet-pile weir approximately 165 linear feet in length, which was constructed to protect water supplies during low-flow periods.
An approximately 600-linear-foot sheet pile wall was previously installed on the upstream north side of the weir to restrict and prevent airboat access through adjacent marsh and wetland areas.
Recent breaches along the upstream south side of the weir have allowed water to bypass the structure and flow through surrounding marsh areas. Temporary stabilization measures have been implemented; however, the District is procuring sheet pile to facilitate permanent corrective repairs.
II. OBJECTIVE
To purchase and receive delivery of approximately 200 linear feet (±) of steel sheet pile in accordance with the specifications identified herein. The materials will be used by the District to construct a sheet pile wall along the south side of Lake Washington weir (See Figure 1 – Lake Washington Weir Location Map).
III. SPECIFICATIONS
All materials shall be new, unused, and free from defects. The sheet pile shall meet the following minimum requirements:
(a) Sheet pile shall be cold formed steel sheet pile, 25-foot in length and meet the minimum specifications of SKZ 24 (or similar), ASTM A572, Grade 50
Sheet pile shall have an effective installed coverage width of approximately 2.375 feet per sheet.
Quantity of 85 sheets is based on furnishing sufficient material to construct approximately 200 linear feet of wall.
Supplier shall provide manufacturer's product data or technical specifications demonstrating compliance with the above requirements upon request.
IV. DELIVERY REQUIREMENTS
Sheet pile must be delivered between October 1, 2026, and October 31, 2026.
Delivery Location:
Lake Washington Park Boat Ramp 6000 Lake Washington Road Melbourne, FL 32934
Delivery Terms:
(a) Unit prices shall include all delivery, freight, and handling costs.
(b) Delivery shall be coordinated with the District Project Manager (DPM).
(c) Supplier shall provide a minimum of 48 hours’ advance notice prior to delivery.
(d) Materials shall be delivered during normal District business hours unless otherwise approved by the DPM.
Rev. 6.16.26 42443IFB26IFB26 | Page 4 of 42
(e) All materials shall be securely bundled and delivered in a manner that prevents damage during transport.
(f) All materials shall be delivered on or before October 31, 2026.
V. DISTRICT’S RESPONSIBILITIES
The District will:
(a) Coordinate the delivery and time with the Supplier.
