PART 1 - SCOPE OF WORK
I. INTRODUCTION
The St. Johns River Water Management District (District) comprises all or part of 18 counties starting at the
Florida/Georgia border (Nassau County) down to Vero Beach (Indian River County) and from the Atlantic
Ocean to Interstate 75 and south through Orlando. The District’s boundaries are based on natural, hydrogeologic basins rather than political/county limits to allow for effective and efficient planning and management.
Every five (5) years, the District performs inspections of all underwater structures within flood control levees.
In summer 2025, Underwater Engineering Services, Inc. (UESI) performed the most recent underwater inspections of the minor water control structures associated with the District’s flood control levee systems for the District. During these inspections, commercial divers utilizing surface supplied diving equipment performed complete and thorough inspections of the interior and exterior portions of the water control structures as well as the surrounding channels and instrumentation. The defects and conditions of the structures inspected were recorded and conveyed through written condition reports and video taken during the inspections. These inspections revealed that a number of the structures and culverts require repairs to ensure their continued operability.
