About this file

This is a justification for other than full and open competition under simplified acquisition procedures. The document requests immediate mold remediation services for several buildings on the campus of the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut, including Chase Hall B rooms 2-4, MacAllister Hall, Yeaton Hall, Smith Hall, and the barber shop. The spread of mold in these areas poses a direct threat to the health and safety of employees and students, with Chase Hall B housing cadet living quarters. A local service provider is considered vital to begin remediation quickly and prevent further spread, at an estimated cost of $147,587.16. The justification cites urgency due to the health hazard and the need for a local provider's immediate response and treatment of contaminated areas. Future inspections will monitor for additional mold outbreaks.
