GENERAL INFORMATION
1.0 Scope of Work: Remove and replace Port Operations floating pier in Gaeta. During removal and installation a capability to harbor 4 boats must be maintained at all times. Work must be completed in FY26. New pier will need an increased harboring capacity of 5 boat slips.
2.0 Background: Currently floating pier is estimated to be 15 years old. We have seen water intrusion in foam floats under current pier causing certain areas to sag lower in the water. Metal frame has significant rust on structural components. In addition to current deteriorating material condition NSAND Gaeta has acquired an additional utility boat to support the Oil Spill Response plan. The additional boat will raise the requirement to the piers harboring capacity to increase to 5 boat slips.
CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS

Install 3 10 meter by 2.4 meter floating pier sections to create 30 meters of floating pier to NATO pier. Sections above shall be secure to the Pier wall face using 6 steel beams with minimum of 4 sliding nylon rollers per each beam.
6 Floating pier section shall be attached the 30 meter of pier to create 5 boat slips of equal size. Each pier section will be 8 meters long by 1.80 meters wide. Inside area of boat slip shall be lined with 150x130 delta shaped rubber fender with 50mm stainless screws every 1/3rd meter. 6 mooring cleats will be needed for each boat slip secured with stainless steel hardware.
All sections of floating pier structure steel will be hot dip galvanized minimum 120 micron thick according to UNI EN ISO 1461 Standard. Floats cased in polyethylene and filled with 15 density expanded polystyrene core kg/m3, fully welded capsules. Wood flooring will be minimum 20mm thick teak wood fixed to aluminum alloy side members, with two removable sections to access underneath. All sections of pier will be connected utilizing stainless steel bolts of necessary strength to support wind and sea requirement listed in this SOW with neoprene lock nuts.
Outside perimeter of floating pier will need handrails or galvanized steel stanchions every 2 meters with 8mm nylon rope on top and middle of stanchions to prevent personnel from falling off pier.
Pier will need to be able to withstand winds of 50 knots and wave height of 50cm.
