About this file
This is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) document incorporated into a Performance Work Statement (PWS) for a federal contract solicitation regarding calibration services for scientific instruments.
The document addresses four key inquiries from prospective contractors. Regarding shipping logistics, the Government accepts any of the major carriers (FedEx, UPS, DHL, USPS) provided timely return of instruments. Equipment will be shipped in multiple installments throughout the year, averaging approximately six instruments per quarter, and must be returned with their protective cases. The Government uses four different case types with specified weights and dimensions: Particle Counter (AM 520) at 1.62 kg (14" x 10" x 5"), Anemometer (9565) at 2.9 kg (20" x 15.5" x 7"), and two variants of Anemometer (9535/9545) at 2.14 kg (16.5" x 13" x 6.5") and 2.16 kg (16" x 12.5" x 5"). For the 10 units of 9565P anemometers and all velocity meters listed under Item 1.8 (A024715), both the meter and associated probe must be calibrated annually and submitted together for calibration services. These responses are binding requirements incorporated into the PWS by reference.

Attachment 3 – Questions and Answers (Q&A)
The following questions were received from prospective contractors regarding this solicitation.
The Government’s responses are provided below and are incorporated into the PWS by reference.
1. Question: How would you like the equipment shipped back (FedEx, UPS, DHL, USPS)?
Answer: Any of the listed carriers are acceptable provided the instruments are returned in a timely manner.
2. Question: Will the equipment be sent all at once or in several shipments? Also, will the cases be included, or only the units? (Including the cases may significantly increase shipping costs.)
Answer: The equipment will be shipped in several shipments throughout the year, averaging approximately six (6) instruments per quarter. Instruments will be shipped with their cases.
The Government currently uses four different case types with the following approximate weights and dimensions (weights include the instrument inside the case):
Particle Counter (AM 520): 1.62 kg — 14” x 10” x 5”
Anemometer (9565): 2.9 kg — 20” x 15.5” x 7”
Anemometer (9535/9545): 2.14 kg — 16.5” x 13” x 6.5”
Anemometer (9535/9545): 2.16 kg — 16” x 12.5” x 5”
3. Question: The list includes 10 units of the 9565P. Do you also have probes associated with these units that will need to be calibrated?
Answer: Yes. Both the meter and the probe must be calibrated annually.
4. Question: Please confirm whether probes should be added to Item 1.8 (A024715) for all velocity meters, as there is a separate probe with its own serial number.
Answer: Yes. Both the meter and the probe must be calibrated annually and should be included together for calibration.
