Scope of Work #FB26-32
Utah Film Commission Website Hosting, Maintenance, and Engine Optimization Services
1. Introduction
The Utah Film Commission (UFC) website supports its mission to market the entire state of Utah for film, television and commercial production. The current website was designed in 2022 with a WordPress platform to allow for easy customization and a simple framework for day-to-day management by film commission staff. The current structure and back-end maintenance allow for ease of use and standard updates.
The existing website design and infrastructure must continue to provide points of visual interest within the user experience, efficient navigation to various resources, including the Utah Crew & Support Services Directory, Utah Film Locations Database, the Utah Motion Picture Incentive Program, along with other published articles, media, and video content.
The Utah Film Commission is aiming to secure a vendor by May 31, 2026 to take over website hosting and maintenance as of July 1, 2026, along with the ability to recommend and implement Engine Optimization services, including SEO (Search Engine Optimization), AEO (Answer Engine Optimization), and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) to increase the visibility and performance of film.utah.gov. The goal is to capture traffic generated by UFC’s marketing efforts and to increase awareness of Utah as a filmmaking destination and to promote filmmaking resources in the state.
2. Background
Formed in 1974, the Utah Film Commission is part of the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity and the Utah Office of Tourism. Our mission is to promote the entire state of Utah for film, television and commercial production and foster the development of local talent, crew and industry.
Utah has been a destination for filmmaking for over 100 years and its diverse landscapes play a starring role in some of Hollywood's most iconic productions. With over 84,000 square miles of diverse and cinematic landscapes, Utah's locations are unique assets that attract filmmakers to our state for film production. Utah also offers a competitive incentive program that allows Utah to compete with other states, encourage production in the state and to develop a strong motion picture industry in the state.
Utah’s film industry has grown over the past 10 years, generating a total economic impact of $736 million. Utah remains focused on investing in a strong film industry — one that drives our creative economy and inspires the next generation of artists and audiences. Utah continues to attract major productions while expanding opportunities statewide through rural film-readiness.
The Utah Film Commission (UFC) website is our best communication tool for the film industry to discover the benefits of filming in the state of Utah, along with promoting Utah as a destination for filmmaking. The website is essential in fostering the development of our local talent and crew, http://film.utah.gov/
Updated 1.14.26 promoting our varied filming locations, industry businesses and the Utah Motion Picture Incentive Program, as well as highlighting Utah’s unique place in film history.
Since the launch of the redesigned website in October 2022, film.utah.gov has received over 211K new users from organic search with no SEO, AEO, or GEO implemented. We need a contractor to help us host and maintain the current website and provide recommendations for search engine optimization to increase the visibility and performance of film.utah.gov.
