About this file

This document is an Amendment to an Agreement between the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners for the Florida Artificial Reef Program. The amendment extends the original agreement's expiration date from December 31, 2028 to December 31, 2030, and increases the compensation amount from $10,000,000 to $15,000,000. The project involves providing services and materials to plan, create, and deploy artificial reef marine habitat support structures in Monroe County.

During the 2024 Florida Legislative Session, an additional $5,000,000 in nonrecurring funds from the General Revenue Fund was provided to the Commission for establishing and implementing a framework for artificial reef placement, monitoring, and maintenance in Monroe County. The funds can be expended on activities listed in Chapter 68E-9.004(1), with no more than 20% of project funds granted under the program used for engineering services. The recipient, Dr. Hanna R. Koch from Monroe County, will solicit vendors to provide services and materials for creating official reef marine habitat support structures, with the total budget of $15,000,000 to be used less any costs associated with consulting, permitting, engineering, and monitoring.
