About this file

This is a technical specification document for vertical turbine mixers for the PWAS (Primary Waste Activated Sludge) and Blend Tank systems, referenced as project 25-205-B. The specification covers the procurement of suspended vertical turbine mixers for installation in one PWAS Holding Tank and two Blend Tank locations, with hyperboloid mixers as an acceptable alternative for the Blend Tank. The mixers must provide complete homogeneous mixing of tank contents, with specific requirements including a 10 HP minimum motor for the PWAS tank and 7.5 HP minimum for the Blend tank, both operating at 460V, 3-phase, 60 Hz power with TEFC enclosures. Acceptable manufacturers are limited to SPX FLOW Inc. Lightnin Series 70 Top Entry, NOV Inc. Chemineer Model 20 GT Top Entry, or Engineer's approved equal. The specification requires extensive submittals including shop drawings, CFD modeling analysis, performance testing, and manufacturer field services for installation supervision and operator training.

The specification establishes detailed performance requirements for mixing waste activated sludge with maximum 2.4% solids concentration in the PWAS tank and primary sludge with up to 7.4% solids concentration in the Blend tank. All wetted components must be constructed of 316 stainless steel, with gear reducers meeting AGMA standards and having a minimum 2.0 service factor for continuous 24-hour operation. The manufacturer must provide a 24-month warranty from startup, conduct suspended solids uniformity testing to demonstrate mixing effectiveness within ±10% deviation, and supply factory-trained technicians for installation supervision, startup, and performance testing. The specification includes comprehensive material requirements, installation procedures, and mandates that any system failing to meet performance requirements must be modified at no additional cost to the owner.
