About this file
This document is a Solicitation Addendum for North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Solicitation Number 38-25036 for Mechanical Water Treatment Services at Cherry Hospital. The addendum modifies the original solicitation by updating requirements for open and closed loop water system services, specifically adding compliance with ASHRAE Standards and Guidelines for cooling tower treatments. The solicitation opening date is May 2, 2025, at 2:00 pm ET, and the document includes modifications to tasks and deliverables for water treatment, particularly for a Steam Generator (Electro-Steam Generator Model LB100) with specific details about water sourcing, testing, and maintenance responsibilities.
The addendum addresses several vendor questions, clarifying that all chemical testing will be conducted by the awarded vendor, and providing additional details about the water treatment process. Key clarifications include specifications about the Kitchen Boiler's automatic controls, water level management, and the closed-loop nature of the water systems. The document indicates that historical contract pricing will not reflect the current service level, and vendors are required to carefully review and respond to the modifications, potentially updating their original submissions to address the changes outlined in this addendum.

Question # Document
Vendor Question State’s Response
4 5.2 Does the Kitchen Boiler have automatic blowdown?
No, the system has automatic controls to maintain the pre-set operating pressure and water level.
When the water reaches a low level, the system will automatically cut-off and signal the pump to add water.
Manual blow downs are completed weekly for routine maintenance, system water is not drained during this maintenance.
5 Is the Kitchen Boiler tested regularly for chemical levels?
No.
6 Is it possible to install a pump with a timer on the Kitchen Boiler?
No. There is not a location on the boiler to install a chemical pump.
Maintenance staff indicated that the condensation tank feeds into the water softener tank, making this a closed loop system and make-up water is rarely used.
7 What is the price of the current contract?
Historical contract pricing does not reflect the level of service as requested in this bid.
