About this file

This document is an Amendment to Solicitation for RFP# 375942-DSF, titled "Global Magnetic Shield" issued by Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (FNAL), with an opening date of January 22, 2026. The amendment provides responses to seven technical and procedural questions from potential bidders, covering details such as manufacturing drawing exceptions, management control plan samples, initial part requirements, onsite assembly timeline, and magnetic testing specifications.

Key details include: specific parts needed (F10240910, quantity 1; F10182640, quantity 6), onsite assembly beginning in 2027 with multiple appointments planned, magnetic testing to be conducted in operation-similar conditions, and confirmation that all required drawings are available in a shared file. The amendment emphasizes that deviations must be submitted in the proposal, management control plan samples can be from past jobs, and parts can be sent in advance. The target magnetic field attenuation is less than 15 mG, which has been validated through simulations.

DATE ISSUED:

December 24, 2025

PROJECT NO.

N/A

OPENING DATE:

January 22, 2026

TITLE OF PROJECT: Global Magnetic Shield

Bidders must acknowledge this Addendum prior to the hour and date set forth in the solicitation as indicated in the RFP, Section 6.

If by virtue of this Addendum you desire to change a bid already submitted, such change may be made by telegram or letter, provided such telegram or letter makes reference to the Solicitation and this Amendment and is received prior to the time set for opening.

The above reference Solicitation is amended as follows:

The following responses are provided to questions submitted during the Question-and-Answer period to all potential offers:

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS:

1. RFP-375942, Section 9; How do we submit exceptions and deviations in the drawing to accommodate manufacturability?

ANSWER: Deviations need to be submitted in the proposal.

Is this the Manufacture’s Drawing Exception Document (MDED)

ANSWER: Yes

Is this only done after award of project?

ANSWER: No

2. RFP-375942, Section 13-A-3; Can the management control plan samples be from the jobs submitted for past experience?

ANSWER: Yes

3. SOW ED00045002, Section 2.1-A; What is part(s) are needed within in the initial 12-month lead time ?

ANSWER: F10240910, quantity 1; F10182640, quantity 6

Can parts be sent ahead in advance or is there a schedule needed by FNAL for receiving.

ANSWER: It can be sent ahead in advance

4. SOW ED00045002, Section 3.4; Is there a specification or method for etching or part marking?

ANSWER: No

5. SOW ED00045002, Section 3.6; When will onsite assembly take place?

ANSWER: Starting in 2027

Will there be multiple appointments needed?

ANSWER: Yes. One for the first unit, and another for the remaining units

Will magnetic testing be done at this time?

ANSWER: Yes. Reference SOW Section 3.7.

6. SOW ED00045002, Section 3.7; Has the target attenuation (<15 mG) been validated by experimental or actual results?

ANSWER: From simulations it is possible to be below 15 mG

Will testing be done in a magnetic environment similar to that of operation?

ANSWER: Yes, the vessel will be orientated in the same position as in operation conditions.

7. After reviewing the drawings, our technical team is asking for a couple of additional ones, if you are able to share them:

• We haven’t been able to locate a General drawing for F10240910. Is there one available?

• Drawings of items 8 through 42 listed on the assembly drawing F10239633 (and all drawings referenced therein, if any)?

ANSWER: All drawings have been provided and are located in the shared drawing file.

All other terms and conditions remain unchanged.
