About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) document for a Request for Proposal (RFP) for Construction Services for the MI-8 Test Stand HVAC project at Fermilab. The Q&A addresses several key points: (1) bid guarantee requirements mandate a 20% bid bond not exceeding $3 million, to be submitted with the proposal using various acceptable financial instruments, and (2) concrete pad specifications allow for precast concrete with specific installation requirements, including full support by compacted CA-7 fill and a required lift plan with calculations.
Additional details from the site visit include that the HVAC system will be standalone with no BACNet integration, Fermilab will move the external dumpster, and the subcontractor is responsible for moving the downspout and outside light. The accompanying technical diagram provides specific dimensional details for the HVAC installation, including duct placement, plenum specifications, and overall equipment footprint measurements, with specific instructions to install ductwork a minimum of 6" from column edges and provide electrical conduit clearance.
