About this file
This document is Amendment #0002 to Request for Quote (RFQ) 36L79726Q0009 issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs Enterprise Procurement Office Acquisition Service 7 in Hines, Illinois, effective August 18, 2026. The amendment provides clarifications and answers to nine questions submitted by interested parties regarding a laundry equipment procurement project.
Key clarifications include: existing machine spacing can be maintained around non-moving and moving equipment; the epoxy floor replacement requirement has been removed as the site does not have epoxy floors; Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) backup is required only for the central washer control system with minimum 2-hour capacity; new dryers shall be pass-through machines with internal lint screens and external lint collection points, integrating with the facility's existing conveyor-based system, and the rooftop lint collector will be removed; the dryers shall support existing pass-through conveyor operations; the existing staph barrier wall will remain with cleaned glass and replacement of cracked or shattered sections; there are no existing washer loading chutes, so the facility's overhead rail loading system will be used instead; replacing washers with like-for-like pocket configurations (2 and 4 pocket machines) is acceptable rather than the specified 3-pocket minimum; and a single integrated color touchscreen control interface is acceptable for the blanket folder and stacker system provided it offers full automatic and manual operation, self-testing, fault display, and diagnostics for both components. Offerors must acknowledge receipt of this amendment prior to the deadline specified in the solicitation.

Question 4.
“Section B.3 – Technical Specifications – Item #0001
Furnish and install two (2) each 400/500-pound production gas heated dryers with external to the machine lint collection.”
Per the site visit on August 4th, 2026, it was clarified with the site that the existing roof top lint collector will be removed, and it was acceptable to install a new dryer with an internal lint screen with an external to the dryer lint collection point. Can you please confirm this scope is accurate to the formal solicitation?
Answer 4.
Confirmed. The proposed configuration is acceptable. The existing rooftop lint collector will be removed. The new dryers shall utilize an internal lint screen with an external-to-the-dryer lint collection point, as described in the clarification. The solicitation shall be revised as necessary to reflect this requirement.”
Question 5.

“Section B.3 – Technical Specifications – Item #0002 Large Washer Extractors A staph barrier wall shall be built around the washers (or other suitable/approved arrangement for soiled separation) and into the system to prevent cross-contamination.”
Per the site visit on August 4th, 2026, it was discussed that the existing staph barrier wall would remain, with the existing glass staph barrier wall to be cleaned, and any cracked or shattered glass will be replaced. The contractor will remove a portion of the wall for the removal and installation of the washer extractors, maintaining a separation between the soiled side and clean side of the laundry.
Answer 6.
Confirm, that the existing staph barrier wall is to remain, with the existing glass staph barrier wall to be cleaned, and any cracked or shattered glass will be replaced.
