About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file addressing three clarification items related to building mechanical systems upgrades at a VA facility.

Item 8 – Building 15 AHU 1 Coil Replacement: The VA requires conversion of control valves and the steam humidifier from pneumatic to direct digital control (DDC) when new coils are installed in AHU 1.

Item 9 – Building 15 Basement AHU for AFR: The VA requires installation of a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) to accompany the chilled water coil replacement. The VFD must be compatible with the existing fan motor specifications of 11 Amps, 7.5 HP, 1750 RPM, 3-phase, 460 volts.

Item 10 – Absorber Tower Equipment: While VFDs for Pumps 4 and 5 are scheduled for replacement, the VA does not require replacement of the inoperable CT-3 fan motor, its VFD, or the associated gear box.
