About this file

This document contains questions and answers regarding a solicitation for televisions and installation services at a Veterans Affairs medical center. The opportunities involves replacing damaged or malfunctioning pillow speakers and televisions throughout the facility to provide a pillow speaker for each television. An estimated 3-6 feet of coaxial cable would be needed for each installation, depending on room layout. The installation team would have access to rooms daily, working with nursing staff if veterans are present. The site uses Spectrum for television signals delivered via HD. All pillow speakers and nurse call connections are currently standardized. The articulating wall mounts would need to extend approximately 21 inches from the wall to mount televisions above furniture in most rooms.

Yes What size coax jumpers do you need, half 3ft and half 4ft? - 4’ and the cords can be zip tied. Also have some 3’ and use those in the shorter distance areas.

For the mount would you prefer an articulating mount or a tilt mount that is close to the wall? Articulating mount.

2. Can you provide an estimate regarding length of coaxial cable that will be needed, on average, for each TV (it can just be a rough estimate? (We just need some idea of what we’re working with) - 3’ to 6’ – with this large quantity it depends on the location of the television (coaxial cable construction could also be done).

Date installation is expected to start? Within 90 days of delivery of the equipment.

When the installation is being done, will the rooms be empty or occupied? Both, the rooms that are occupied we’ll work with the nursing staff so the Veteran is not in the room during the exchange.

How many rooms a day will the installation team have access to? Not sure for an answer, how many people are on a team and how many television can they swap out. Which involves new mounts that are secured to the wall and new cabling.

Will there be a change to the nurse call system? No change to the Nurse Call System.

Who is the current manufacturer of Pillow speakers you are using? Anacom MedTek Do you have the model number of the current pillow speaker you are looking to replace? Model # A1501-088DJ Is the plan to change the current pillow speaker or just use the same pillow speaker model number but new ones? May use the same pillow speaker model number. This is opportunity for the SCVAHCS to replace all damaged/not working properly pillow speakers and have a pillow speaker for each television.

Are all Pillow speakers the same throughout the Facility? Yes.

How is the site planning on using the optical output? Optical output is what the Veterans use to hook up their device for their hearing aids to work with the television in the room.

Who provides the TV signal to the facility? (IE Comcast, DISH, Spectrum) Spectrum.

How is that signal delivered? (SD, HD, IPTV, Pro:Idiom) I’m not sure right now.

Nurse call jumper cable: Can you confirm that the connection at the wall at all locations is a ¼” female plug? Connection is ¼”.

Are all Nurse call connections on the wall behind the TV a ¼” connection? Yes.

In the attached Word doc “existing TV pics,” what is the distance from the top of the cabinet to the ceiling? About 21”, thought – majority of the televisions will need to be at an angle for the Veterans. Some areas might have to evaluate how long the wall mount will need to be.
