QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

1. What is the average “overtime” hours that the 1.6 FTE incurs per month or year? My interpretation of overtime is the requirement to stay past the 6:30 - 3:00 pm shift, a night or weekend. Answer:

Overtime is about 12 hours per month. That interpretation is correct.

2. How many other Perfusionists are on staff currently? Answer: 2

3. While on call during the week, approximately how many calls does the Perfusionist receive on weeknights? Weekends? Answer: Weeknights and weekend calls are rare -maybe 1/month.

4. Approximately how many times is the requirement of supporting simultaneous heart cases/ORs?

Answer: 2-3 times /week preCOVID

5. What percentage of the surgeries Perfusionist called back in to the Hospital while on weeknight call?

Weekend call? Answer: Very few- 3-4 times /year - 1-2% for both cases

6. Does the Hospital perform any TAVR cases? If so, approximately how many per year? Answer: We do

TAVRs - about 100/year

7. Does the Hospital perform any cell saver cases? If so, approximately how many per year? Answer:

Yes we do cell savers for other services. 40 – 60 /year.

8. Does the Hospital perform any ECMO cases? If so, approximately how many per year? Answer: No

ECMO. Is there ever a are isolated BABG or Valve Surgeries? Answer: Yes, there are isolated CABG and valve cases.

9. What percentage of the cardiac caseload is emergency based? Answer: Very few true emergencies, 2-3 per year.

10. Does the perfusionist have any responsibility outside of the cardiac OR? (i.e. cell saver responsibilities in general OR)

If so, if there is simultaneous cardiac case and general OR cell saver needs, personnel to manage both required?

If so, what is the expected annual non-cardiac, general OR cell saver case load?

If so, is the perfusionist also on-call for these cell saver services?

Answer: Yes - there are responsibilities outside the OR, cell saver and PRP. When simultaneous cases are going personnel are needed for both. We do about 40-60 cell savers per year outside of cardiac. We are on call for cell savers.

11. Is the “overtime” paid at the contract bid hourly rate or 1.5 times that? Answer: No, paid only the hourly rate.
