36C26319R0068 Question and Answers
June 29th, 2019
1. From previous Question 3 - Ref room finish schedule AS901- Room finish notes 12 and
13 are referencing alternate 9: With alternate 9 eliminating the 3 stop which is the mechanical platform, should the room finish notes 12 and 13 apply to alternate 10 in lieu of 9?
Answer: The alternate numbers listed in some of the room finish notes on sheet AS901 are incorrect. Delete room finish notes #12-16, 18-19 and replace with:
12. Room deleted under alternate #10 – see sheet AS102C
13. Room added under alternate #10 – see sheet AS102C
14. Room deleted under alternate #11 – see sheet AS102D

2. From previous Question 4 - Reference spec section 01 00 00 part 1.3 Scope/Base Bid
Items: Which finishes and doors are being eliminated by alternate 9? If door 15B and
15C are eliminated what is required to cover shaft openings?
Answer: Alternate #9 eliminates the top floor stop for the elevator thus doors 15B and 15C on ground floor are not affected by alternate #9. Door 201A is deleted under alternate #9, reference the door schedule on sheet AS801. Per the alternate #9 description in spec section 01 000, page 5 the intent is to remove the top stop at the mechanical platform and to delete the smoke door/frame, furred-out metal stud wall & corner guard (north wall of Lobby 201, see 5/AS401). The intent for the ‘infill’ of the shaft opening created by deleting the top stop of the elevator is to continue wall type “10B” north until it intersects with wall type “13”. Provide a 6’- 0” x 8’-0” cmu knockout panel at the location of the deleted elevator door to accommodate a future elevator door.
3. From previous Question 5 - Ref room finish schedule AS901: Room 113 finish schedule calls out room finish note 18 which is being deleted under alternate 11. Based on drawing

15 is to be considered for adds and deducts to alternate 10 and references sheet AS102D-

12. Room deleted under alternate #10 – see sheet AS102C

CWT-1.
Answer: Reference detail 3/AS702 – the drawing indicates full height CWT at the sink locations, provide a minimum of 2’-8” wide area of ceramic wall tile starting at the corner of the column bump out that is next to the sink. The ceiling height/wall height is 9’-0” as indicated on the room finish schedule – sheet AS901.
6. There is a note #18 that says delete room per alt #11. I don’t see ALT #11.

7. Question 7- Ref Elevator specifications 14.2.39 (Sent from elevator subcontractor): Car
Enclosure sections calls for some very specific cab finishes which are not standard, and thus must be custom made by a third party vendor. However, the weight required to accommodate these finishes exceeds our limit for our standard pre-engineered applications. To meet this spec we would need to custom engineer this elevator, which greatly increases the cost, as well as this would then become a conventional jack (in ground jack) application. Is this something that can be adjusted in the specification? My initial thoughts are to provide an option for the entire cab to be our TKE 5WL finish. However, if what is outlined in the specification is what the customer truly wants then I need to get my factory involved as well as consult a drilling company. Can further clarification be provided?
Answer: See attached ASI for response
