SOLICITATION: 36C6119B0031
RFI #1 – Per site walk discussions, it is assumed that all material to be demolished is free of any and all HazMat type of materials, or will the VA conduct a test for ACM, Lead or PCB’s.
VA has conducted and sampled certain areas of Buildings 100 and 101 in a detailed asbestos survey and assessment in 2010 and no ACM was identified under that survey. Also, we are assuming that there is no lead or PCB’s impacting the project area. However, contractor shall comply with the specifications, including, but limited to the Safety Requirements (Section 01 35 26). General contractor shall also conduct a sampling of each floor area type that is to be removed/replaced and test for any asbestos containing material.
RFI #2 – Is there a specification listed for the material required to construct the “Temporary Construction Partitions” during demolition and phased flooring installation.
Reference is made in Safety Requirements (Section 01 35 26) under the Infection Control regarding safety measures and requirements. Compliance to applicable codes and standards, as well as Demolition Notes as referenced in the construction drawings shall also be required.
RFI #3 – It is assumed there is no grout bed under the corridor tile, per Demolition Drawing sheets AS1-1A, AS1-1B, AS1-2A, AS1-3A, AS1-4A, can this be confirmed if any HazMat testing is performed to verify?
See response to RFI #1.
RFI #4 – Venting is paramount for workers, staff and visitors protection, where possible, can coordination be allowed to removed a window for venting, or is there a floor plan that could be distributed showing venting locations at the closet point to the work areas of the project?
Ventilation and negative air will be required. General contractor shall develop an acceptable ventilation plan that may include temporary glazing removal and duct routing, where appropriate and acceptable by the VA. General contractor shall restore areas to original condition where ventilation work has occurred.
RFI #5 – What is the brand name of the existing fire alarm system that is in building 100 and 101?
Notifier
RFI #6 – Can you provide the name of the company that currently services the FA system?
This type of information is not typically provided, and can be provided at a later point during construction if needed.
