Text version

Q1. how many heads need to be replaced, specifically in Building 4 & 5

Answer: The quantity is unknown based on the 5 year test reports. For Building 4 & 5 along with other buildings, originally the test report allowed for sending out a test sample of the Sprinkler heads to UL for certification. Sending out the sprinkler heads for certification will meet the requirements without replacing all the sprinkler heads. Please see original test report details included in the contract package.

Q2. normal working hours

Answer: The normal working hours are 7am -4:30pm Monday-Friday, excluding Holidays.

Q3. Will they disable the fire alarm, or do we need to disable panel audibles etc.

Answer: The VA will be available to assist in disabling/re-enabling the fire Alarm. The contractor will be in direct contact with our alarm electronics shop supervisor.

Q4. who is going to 5-year certify the system?

Answer: The bid is to include 5-year and/or annual re-certification/re-commissioning of the system. The PWS requires the contractor to “provide supervision, labor, material, equipment, tools, supplies, travel, and related services, in accordance with the PWS, VA plans and specifications and as necessary for complete working systems.” A complete working system would require re-certification.

Q5. “Therefore, my understanding is that this is a one-time repair contract covering the stated items, and does not include any contract maintenance items (unless the Facility of COR should add this, or make a request above and beyond this SOW after the fact).”

Answer: This contract is a one-time repair contract covering the stated items and it does not include any contract maintenance items. The repair contract should include 5-year and/or annual re-certification/re-commissioning of the system.
