About this file

This document is a set of questions and answers (Q&A) related to Request for Quotation (RFQ) 36C26024Q0396 for the maintenance of elevators at the Boise VA Medical Center. The Q&A clarifies that the 5-year full load testing required under Section T of the RFQ will be due in Option Year 2 of the contract, with the schedule for the test beginning in May and completing by September. It also confirms that the contract does not require 5-year load testing for hydraulic elevators, material lifts, and dumbwaiters as specified in Section U. Additionally, the Q&A states that any current safety issues will be corrected prior to the end of the existing contract, with a separate purchase order issued to bring equipment up to code if needed. However, the agency does not maintain a formal "punch list" of defects, but will address specific items such as top rails for elevators, elevator fire key switches, and an elevator oil leak in Building 27.

Q and A RFQ 36C26024Q0396 Part 2

Please clarify if 5-year full load testing (Section T), which is due in fiscal year 2026, will be required in Option Year 2 or Option Year 3.

Option year 2. The schedule for the test begins in May but must be completed by September.

Please confirm that the contract does not require 5-year full load testing for the hydraulic elevators, material lift, and the dumbwaiter (Section U).

That is correct, no 5-year load test for hydraulic elevators, lifts, dumbwaiters.

Will all current safety issue be corrected prior to the end of the existing contract?

In theory, yes. Any infractions that may remain will not be the responsibility of the awarded contractor. A separate purchase order would be issued to bring equipment up to code if needed.

Will you please provide a punch list of all the defects found within 6 months of the current contract termination and identify which defects remain uncorrected.

We do not maintain a “punch list”. There are a couple items that are going to be addressed.

Here is what I have:

Top rails for elevators that require them.

Elevator fire key switches to be changed out to same keyway.

Building 27 elevator repacking to correct oil leak.
