About this file

This is a Notice of Intent to Sole Source, issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs Network Contracting Office (NCO) 19 in Greenwood Village, Colorado, for the procurement of Stryker orthopedic and podiatry instrument sets. The solicitation number is 36C25926Q0447, and the VA intends to award the contract to Howmedica Osteonics, Inc., doing business as Stryker Orthopaedics, located in Mahwah, New Jersey. The required items include six orthopedic instrument and screw sets: Alpha GT, PLFT20 ORIF, PSF T8 T15 ORIF, ASNIS 65 80, Omega Hip, and Infinity Adaptis Total Ankle systems, with one unit each requested.

The sole source justification centers on the unique screw-head design of Stryker hardware, which is compatible exclusively with the Stryker surgical drills already deployed at the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center. Competing manufacturers' proprietary systems are incompatible with existing equipment, and transitioning to an alternative manufacturer would require complete replacement of surgical drills, instrumentation, and associated implant systems. This is not a competitive procurement. Interested parties may submit capability statements and relevant documentation to demonstrate their ability to meet the Government's needs by 4:00 PM Mountain Time on May 12, 2026, with responses directed to Contract Specialist Chris Hollingsworth at Christopher.Hollingsworth2@va.gov. The NAICS code is 339113 with a business size standard of 750 employees. The Government reserves the right not to compete this requirement based on submitted responses.
