NOTE: The operating voltage of a cold (just started) generator will be slightly higher than the operating voltage of a generator that has been under load and warm. The full load voltage of a generator will decrease a maximum of 1% when the generator stabilizes at 100°C (212°F). Most of the voltage decrease occurs in about 30 minutes. Generally, temperatures of generators stabilize within two hours.

A.2 Questions and Answers Questions and Answers

· Regarding the Cleaning of Radiators using Dry Ice method, due to the specialized nature of the operation and the expense this Item should be seen as a repair as needed determined by the Technician, in our experience standby generators due not experience as much dirtiness us prime power (24/7 operations) and environmental locations like oil field and desert, please let us know if this changes.

Most of these generators are already starting to over temp. due to recent construction work due to plugged air flow across the radiator. Using dry ice cleaning would mean not having to dispose of cleaning water, just the dirt that comes off the radiator.

· Regarding dead line of 24hrs for repairs, we have email this question before with no reply, the VA hospital have different equipment manufacturers and models making acquisitions of parts an repair actions difficult to pin down language as soon as possible will be more realistic, also the matter of proprietary software by Cummins and Cat means there participation on repairing, replacing and programing controllers as a sub-contractor will be needed, we will like to see language on that regard.

Depending on the generator outage, we may have to shut down services due to VA requirements therefore will need a solution quickly for generators being offline. Also joint commission requires each generator to be tested twelve times a year, at intervals not less than 20 days and not more than 40 days. This would be the maximum time limit for a generator to be down. The monthly testing is not part of this contract

· Regarding yearly services and load bank operations time frames like normal hours or overtime hrs.?, let us know.

Services and load bank operation times can be performed during normal business hours. M-F 8-1400.

· Regarding number of units show 13 generators but we only have seen information on 11 units, please let us know on the discrepancy, Updated the SOW to include the missing generators and location.

· we use KW, voltage and generator model and serial number to determine pricing, your help will be greatly appreciated.

Updated Attachment A, located at the bottom of the PWS, to include Voltage, Current.

· In reviewing the POWs, I noted the requirement for air filters to be changed either after 250 hours or annually, whichever comes first.

· In order to properly account for this, we will need the specific air filter numbers for all generators.

· Usually, Air filters are considered repairs. We recommend replacing air filters 1 time during the contract period or when the technician recommends it.

· Manufactures recommend 3–4-year replacement depending on environment.

VA requirements require filters/oil to be changed out every year or 250 hrs whatever comes first.

· While we have discussed generator kW ratings, we are unable to rely on general online searches, as they only provide ranges. These ranges are not sufficient for our pricing matrix, as the values often differ from our internal calculations.

· Additionally, we do not have access to OEM resources since those typically require being an authorized distributor for the generator brand.

· As a result, locating accurate air filter numbers via online searches has proven to be very challenging.

· Is there an existing list for each generator that includes the generator kW, and corresponding air filter number? If not, would it be possible to obtain/create this information so that we can develop a more accurate pricing estimate?

We do not keep extra parts on hand, and we do not employ an authorized heavy mechanic, therefore I am unable to open a generator for part numbers. Any part installed not already authorized by the manufacturer will require a letter from the manufacturer that part is equivalent. Parts in leu of a letter will require the generator to be recertified for emergency electrical generation work at the contractors’ expense to use those unverified parts.

The monthly testing is not part of this contract. Replacing controllers and programming would require to modify the Statement of Work thus giving a timeline at that timeline as those are not PM equipment.
