This amendment is created to provide questions and answers for RFI #1 and to extend the proposal due date from December 18, 2023 to January 2, 2024. Submissions are due no later than 1:00 PM MT to ilze.karklins-powers@va.gov.
RFI
1. Will the prime contractor be required to have a separate SSHO for this project or can the SSHO work on multiple projects?
The SSHO can work on multiple projects if they can meet the requirements in the specifications.
2. Is the SSHO required to be onsite full time with no other duties?
No, but must be capable of meeting requirements in the specifications.
3. Does the CQCM have to be on site full time?
Yes, per specifications.
4. Can the CQCM be the superintendent?
Yes, per specifications.
5. Can the Superintendent be the SSHO and CQCM?
No, per specifications.
6. What is the SOW for the fire sprinkler heads and/or lines?
None.
7. Can the VA provide what is expected for seismic requirements for the new HVA Duct work?
Refer to seismic requirements specification 13 05 41 for requirements.
8. What kind of phasing will need to be figured for building 45? Will we be able to get the whole area?
The whole area will be available without the need for phasing.
9. Note 4 sheet A2.01 says to refer to finish schedule for new finishes. Can the VA provide this schedule so new finishes can be priced accurately?
Unable to verify ACT ceiling tile or paint manufacturer, contractor will need to work with VA to verify in the field.
10. Is this a design/bid/build project?
Yes.
11. Is there an asbestos report for these areas?
Yes, see attached report.
12. Per the drawings there is no flooring to be removed but note 5 sheet A2.01 says to prep existing flooring for newly scheduled finishes. Please provide the finish schedule and what rooms need new flooring.
The original flooring scope was eliminated, and this note can be ignored.
13. We don’t have life safety plans for building 45 per note 2 on sheet A2.01 how do we price accurately what walls don’t meet UL rating? Also how do we know without getting above ceiling picture’s what walls need to be upgraded to meet UL rating?
The original scope changed, and this note was updated in a new A2 .01 sheet.
14. The drawings show the existing fan is mounted in the space and reduces down through the wall. The fan is actually mounted in the wall making the hole opening more like 48x48 instead of 32x32. Do you want the fan size to change or will there be some kind of back framing?
The fan needs to be 32x32 and meet installation and seismic specifications.
15. For building 12, The notes say to flush and reconnect the existing refrigerant piping. We recommend to replace the piping with new. By reusing the existing piping there could be contamination issues in which could lead to damaging the new equipment.
The refrigerant piping will be adequately flushed to reasonably ensure no contamination remains in the piping. The piping will be replaced if necessary for sizing requirements.
