Project: 436-20-105 Sanitary Sewer Replacement Building 150 Procurement RFI Responses

Round 1

1. There is no mention of flooring work in the SOW. Please provide scope of work and spec section regarding flooring removal and install.

a. Specification section and drawing notes for flooring will are added. Floor will be replaced with textured VCT to withstand heavy traffic and palletized loads.

2. Please confirm if construction area can be shut down from staff for work to be completed during normal business hours or if work needs to be done after hours/weekends.

a. After hours and weekend work will be required for this project as indicated in the SOW.

Coordination with staff that utilize the space will be required as well. VA will require coordinated access to food and supply cold and dry storage rooms and a freight elevator accessed through the work zone.

3. Please expand on ICRA requirements for this construction area.

a. Infection Control Risk Assessment document is provided in the amendment. Indicates level of risk and mitigation response expected for this project.

4. Please confirm slab thickness throughout construction area. Construction documents indicate

4”.

a. The construction drawing states: Existing Concrete floor varies in thickness from 6” to

8”. The new concrete floor will be minimum 4” in thickness.

5. Regarding existing site conditions; Sow indicates that contractor should conduct site investigation regarding possible hazardous materials. Please confirm if this is a requirement.

a. HAZMATs are not expected. No site investigation prior to work performance will be required by the Contractor. However, if any suspected hazardous materials are discovered in the process performing work, all appropriate actions will be followed by the VA and the contractor.

6. Please confirm depth of existing cleanout shown in B-012.

a. Depth of the clean out in mechanical room B-012 is approximately 12”.

7. Please confirm if doweling is required for replacement slab.

a. Doweling is required and the drawing has been updated to reflect this.

1. Drawing indicates schedule 80 PVC? Schedule 80 is not standard or typical for underground waste and vent. Typically DWV schedule 40 PVC would be installed. Please advise.

a. DWV Schedule 40 PVC and associated material is to be installed throughout.

2. There are no new fixtures are scheduled other than (1) new floor drain and (6) new clean outs. Please confirm existing toilets to be reused?

a. Existing toilets from Locker Room B-008 to be reused. Carriers are to be replaced with associated plumbing.

3. New waste line appears to connect to the sink in A-003 within the wall, SOW indicated connect near the floor drain in A-003. There is no floor drain in A-003? Please advise where to connect. Please confirm new piping to connect t only bathroom sink.

a. Drawings updated. Plumbing in A-003 will no longer be part of the scope.

4. Drawing indicates new floor drain. Are we replacing existing drain? If not, the new drain will require a vent. Please advise on new vent location and where to connect to existing vent?

a. Drawings updated to reflect location. New drain will replace old drain in the same location and be tied into existing vent next to current drain location.

5. Regarding the new drain, it appears to be installed on a separate or different waste line than the new one being installed. Is new drain to remain on existing or tied into new piping?

a. Drawings updated to reflect location. Connect new drain to Northern most line to be tied into new line in mechanical room B-009.

6. Drawings show new floor drain to be installed. Specifications show 12” cast iron. Please confirm type of floor drain?

a. Floor drain in B-012 to be 12” cast iron as stated.

7. Please confirm locations and quantities of clean outs?

a. Drawings updated to reflect locations of clean outs.
