About this file
This is a pre-solicitation market research notice for a portable sterile storage cabinet procurement. The West Texas VA Health Care System (WTVAHCS) located in Big Spring, Texas, seeks to purchase equipment to maintain temperature and humidity control in their sterile storage areas. The cabinet must maintain temperature between 66°F and 72°F with humidity levels between 20% and 60% while sustaining positive pressure within the unit. The specification references the Air Innovations SSC 4500 as the comparable model and requires stainless steel construction (304 hospital grade) with minimum dimensions of 30" wide by 32" deep by 76" high, featuring five adjustable stainless steel shelves measuring at least 27¾" wide by 18" deep.
The cabinet must include HEPA filtration, a self-modulating fan system maintaining a minimum of 10 air changes per hour, integrated condensate control, integral pressure monitoring with alarm functionality, and unit-mounted casters for mobility. Additional specified features include an onboard custom control system with digital display for monitoring temperature, humidity and status, capability to interface with VA network environmental monitoring systems, a see-through glass door, 120V hospital grade 10-foot cord, steam humidification with standard demineralized water using an integral 2.8-liter reservoir, ceiling exhaust kit, and UV-C lights. The procurement is being conducted through the Network Contracting Office (NCO) 17-VA South Texas (VASTHCS) facilities. The successful vendor must provide on-site installation, setup, and same-day training for Sterile Processing, OR, DPU, and Biomedical staff, along with complete printed and electronic versions of operator manuals, service manuals, electronic schematics, troubleshooting guides, and parts lists.
