About this file
This file is a Questions and Answers document for federal contract opportunity 36C25726Q0317 regarding CTX Vent Hoods. The Government clarifies technical requirements for the installation of three residential-style vent hoods with a minimum 500 CFM airflow at three VA facility locations (Buildings 7, BB105, and BB107). The Government specifies that vent hoods must include fire suppression systems for safety purposes and mandates D1000 Models 36-inch units with integrated fire suppression and tie-in capabilities.
Key requirements include contractor responsibility for identifying exterior wall penetration locations through brick walls without Government-provided approved locations, integration of a 120-minute timer switch with lockout capability into existing electrical circuits controlling cooking appliances, and annual inspection and maintenance services in accordance with hood manufacturer recommendations. The contractor must possess either IKECA certification or a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) HVAC Contractor License. The Government will require stamped mechanical or electrical drawings for the vent hood, suppression system, and exhaust routing prior to installation and will provide guidance to electrical panels containing appliance power but requires the contractor to perform all tie-ins and electrical system alterations. The Government will not provide approved penetration locations, additional roof access or duct routing is not required, and contractors will have full access to installation rooms during work.

a. The government will NOT provide approved penetration locations.
4. The SOW requires a timer switch with a maximum operation time of 120 minutes along with a lockout capability. Please clarify whether this switch must be integrated into an existing electrical circuit or if a new dedicated circuit should be installed for the hood and cooking appliance control.
a. The switch must be integrated into an existing circuit that controls the cooking appliance controls.
5. The SOW states that the contractor shall provide annual inspection, cleaning, and maintenance services for the hood and suppression systems. Please confirm whether this service is required for one (1) year after installation or if the contractor should include multiple years of inspection services in the base quote.
