This document contains questions and answers related to a federal contract opportunity for Z1LB--CTX Parking Lot Storm Drain Repairs, solicitation number 36C25724Q0947, issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 17.

The key details are:

  • The existing storm drain line is to be partially removed, with the remaining portion plugged on both ends. The extent of the line removal is not clearly specified, with the RFI response indicating the entire line should be removed, while the site visit explanation stated the line would only be removed a short distance.
  • Clarification is needed on whether the existing line is to be pulled back from the manhole enough to allow installation of the new line, or if a specific length of the existing line must be removed.
  • This Q&A document provides clarification on the handling of the existing storm drain line, but does not contain details on the overall scope of work, response dates, pricing, or other key contract information.

Question and Answer

1) Drain to existing manhole?

As the new drain line will be routed to a new location the old line will need to be removed and the manhole sealed where pipe was removed.

Clarification to question 1 It was explained in the site visit that the old line was to be demoed a short distance, plugged, and abandoned in place. However, the RFI response was to remove the old line. This could be interpreted that the entire existing line is to be removed and this will cause wild differences in bids.

0. Is the existing line to be pulled back from the manhole far enough to allow the new line installation and plugged? YES. On both ends must be plugged.

0. Or, if the existing line is to be removed further, how many feet of existing line are to be removed?
