About this file
This document contains the questions and answers to a Request for Information (RFI) related to RFQ 36C25724Q0421 for the construction and repair of the perimeter fencing at the Amarillo VAMC. The RFI addresses several key details:
- The Statement of Work (SOW) requires one column to be replaced. 2) The SOW requires 41 feet of mow strip to be demolished and replaced, but the contractor requests to only replace the damaged portion, which is estimated to be around 20 feet, to achieve cost savings. The VA has indicated they will allow this. 3) The contractor is allowed to park and set up the work area in the grass between the fence and the road. 4) Temporary construction fencing is not required during the project. 5) For long-term stability, the VA has specified that the stone column should have a pier set beneath it, using concrete, rebar, and a rebar cage.

RFI’S
1. Is the SOW requiring just one column? Yes
2. The statement of work requires 41' of mow strip to be demoed and replaced. However, only a portion of the mow strip has been damaged. Will the VA allow this and if so, how many linear feet should contractors bid for replacement? ~20
3. Are we allowed to park and set up our work area in the grass between the fence and the road? Yes
4. Is temporary construction fencing required during the project? No
5. For long-term stability, the stone column should have a pier set beneath it. Will the VA provide a pier detail or specifications for the column? Install a pier using concrete and a rebar cage using 5 pieces of rebar, 4 on each corner and one in the center
